All cars have license numbers, which are written on number plates. These number plates differ from state to state. Some have images of the state tree or state bird. Most have the state motto written on them. For example, South Carolina number plates say “Smiling faces, Beautiful Places” and Minnesota number plates say “Land of Ten Thousand Lakes”. Number Plates are made of metal, and are very sturdy. This is so that they can withstand the elements (rain, wind, snow, and sleet). Often when a dealer sells a car to a customer, he will put a logo or contact information on the number plate.
Most people do not know that this is actually illegal, and a police officer can pull a person over for having anything on a number plate. Police officers often pull over people in bad areas ,using this as an excuse. Then they search the cars for drugs like cocaine and other illegal substances. So you should never put anything on your car number plate. This includes sport team logs and college logos along with clear plastic covers. If you do not live in a bad area, you are less at risk for being pulled over, but you are still at risk. Every so often states update their number plates. They may add new images, or new colors to them. It is important to update your plate number if this occurs. You can see if your state has updated its plate numbers by looking at the state website. Again, make sure you do update you number plate because if you don’t you can be pulled over because of it. Remember the advise of this article, because it can get you out of trouble with the police. Always have a properly outfitted number plate.
