Importance of Car Number Plates

Driving a vehicle without a valid register number is illigal. Registration plates are unique and required by law, they should be attached both the front and back of the vehicle. Besides this, a vehicle must carry information such as manufacturing year, colour, model, engine size, chassis number, etc. Therefore, car register number is indispensable. Britain implemented Motor Car Act 1903 in January 1, 1904. As per this act, the owners should enter their vehicles in an official vehicle register and all vehicles must carry number plates as well. If the vehicle number plate, it can be traced easily during the time of accident or any such circumstances.

The shape of car number plates should be square or rectangular. There is also certain specific measurement for number plates. Currently, there are two types of numbering system are prevailing in Britain. One is for the Great Britain islands and the other for Northern Irelands. Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency is responsible for the former registration system. On the other hand, Drive and Vehicle Agency administers the latter registration. The Road Vehicles Regulations 2001 has put forward certain unbreakable regulations regarding the display of registration numbers and it should be displayed as per this act. Car registration number plates should be displayed in reflex reflecting material. Therefore the letters should be in black characters. The number plates in front should be in white and in rear, it should be in yellow colour.
