A repeal of Asheville’s HB 289 “Sunset Clause” allows Asheville drivers to continue their outward and monetary support of the Great Smokie Mountains through their colorful specialty custom license plates featuring their mascot, Smokie the Bear. Originally repealed due to the difficulty in reading license plate numbers, a vote has been taken and a solution found that will allow proper visibility of the numbers and funding for the foundation.
