The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency expects to generate £80,000,000 in sales of car number plates next year containing the number 10. Based previous releases demand for the new private number plates is expected to be huge when they are released next month.
Car registrations with 10 to mark 2010 will be able to be used as number plates for vehicles registered after 01/03/2010. The DVLA will hold back the most cherished number plates such as LL10 YDS, BE10 VED, CO10 NEL & EL10 OTT to be auctioned at a future date. That said their are thousands cheap number plates from just a few hundred pounds.
Surprisingly the new style car number plates which have been around since 2001 are still confusing for some motorists who complain they find it difficult to identify a vehicles age.
A recent survey showed only 17% of the 1004 people questioned correctly identified that the current “09” and “59” registrations, relating to vehicles registered from March 1 and September 1 2009, will be superseded by 10 and 60 respectively.
The current style of car number plates comprises two letters, which identify I’s origin, a two figure age identifier, a space and three letters. Next year, 2010, will be recognised by 10 and 60.
