Rathore is a former cop who was convicted of child molestation in 1990 and didn’t serve his jail sentence until 20 years later.

New license plates have old look
Friday, May 4th, 2012Swapping blue ink for black, the Iowa Department of Transportation is replacing custom license plates that were manufactured from 1996-1997. Newer plates will replace the blue and white town and country landscape with black and white plates depicting the same image. The county treasurer’s office and the 98 other counties in the state began the change on April 2.

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012Michael Smith, of Fairfield Township, was surprised to receive a call from the General Motors president – who asked Michael if they could borrow his 1965 Chevrolet 409 Impala for GM’s unveiling of their new 2014 Impala. Smith, who had spent countless hours restoring his Impala with custom plates, was delighted at the offer. His car has won many awards and is said to be worth over $120,000.

Vintage cars destroyed after joyride
Thursday, April 26th, 2012Vandals destroyed two classic cars with a custom number plates after taking one for a joyride. Don Keltie’s 1956 teal-and-white Studebaker was set on fire and totally destroyed; however, he hopes to be able to repair his 1926 Ford Model T, which was badly smashed. The damage to the two cars is estimated at $20,000 but Mr Keltie considers the Studebaker irreplaceable. He is offering a $5000 reward to catch the vandals.

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012On April 15th, vintage car enthusiasts gathered for the “Vintage Classic and Old Car Awareness Drive” event in Gujarat, India. The Gujarat Vintage and Classic Car Club set up the first-ever rally in Ahmedabad to generate public interest and to celebrate vintage cars also with vintage number plates. Many of these international vehicles included car models like Austin, Contessa, Ambassador, Morris Minor and Buick.
