Bad news for vehicle thiefs: New number plates from April

The Indian Supreme Court has set April 30, 2012 as the deadline for the implementation of the High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) by states and territories. The vehicle cheap cherished number plate is tamper resistant and designed to reduce thefts and other criminal activity. Vehicle owners will pay a nominal fee to replace their old plates with the new.

Supreme Court issues contempt notice to Andhra Pradesh government

The Supreme Court in New Delhi has come down harshly upon Andhra Pradesh governance for not putting the High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) system into effect in the region. Andhra Pradesh’s Principal Secretary, Road Transport and Transportation Commissioner both received contempt notices for failing to implement the scheme, which is designed to aid law enforcement in tracking vehicles with cheap number plate  involved in crime.

Crime Report: Selling Tobacco to Minor; Forged License Plate

According to the Suffolk County crime report, between Jan. 29 and Feb 3 the following individuals were arrested. Xin Hu of Flushing was arrested on counterfeiting charges involving the sale of illegal DVDs, Omer Ergen was arrested on stolen property charges, Christopher Place was arrested for a false report, Vipal Shah was arrested for selling tobacco to a minor, Reena Rashid was arrested for filing false business records, and Jason Faraone was arrested for a forged cheap number plate. All are innocent until proven guilty.

SC license plates show support of gay residents

The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will begin selling a specialty cheap number plate that shows support for gay residents. South Carolina produces more than 130 specialty license plates which residents can purchase for an additional $25 over the price of a standard license plate. The message on the specialty plate is subtle: “SC Equality.”

RTA to offer M coded plates

The RTA(Roads and Transport Authority) in Dubai has scheduled the release of 4 and 5 digit number license plates. This launch will coincide with the 10th online cheap number plate auction that will be containing the M code. The auction will take place January 24th, and is expected to do well as a result of frequent inquiries about the M code release.

The auction will take place at www.rta.ae. A 5,000 dirham deposit and traffic file with Dubai Emirates is required for participation.

We read many news headlines quoting about some thefts/burglary happening and which involves use of motor vehicles to commit the crime. Now, how can the police find the culprits, if the car number plate of the motor vehicle used is missing or is not visible properly. The point here is law and order will be disturbed if this major issue is not take care and there will be ever increasing crimes and main role will be played by motor vehicles not having proper number plates.

Police Put The Squeeze On Fuel And Number Plate Thieves In Bradford And Keighley

Police across Bradford and Keighley are trying to reduce number plates and fuel theft. They are installing cameras to detect false number plates also. These police ask petrol station owners to report any possible petrol theft and also information about false number plates. Police officers also offer safety screws to fit number plates free of cost.

Number’s up for thieves

To reduce theft of car number plates at Rosehill, the police decided to provide irreversible number plates screws to residents of that locality. This program was called Operation Tabella. Police would fit these irreversible screws to number plates free of charge at Granville library car park. As these screws are irreversible the thief cannot unscrew the screws and remove the number plates.
