Secure Your Number Plates

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

There has been a lot of coverage in the media over recent years regarding stolen number plates. From almost every part of the United kingdom there are stories of motorists that have fallen fowl of number plate thieves.

There are two common ways to secure number plates to a vehicle, either with adhesive pads or screws. There are several different types of pads and screws and it is really down to preference as which method suits you best. The advantage of the adhesive pads is that there is no need drill the number plate and therefore the view of the number plate remains unobstructed, ideal if you have private number plates.

Thieves may find it easier to remove number plates secured with adhesive pads or ordinary nylon or self tapping screws. With security screws however it is more difficult. Security screws allow number plates to be fastened as normal but cannot be unscrewed due to the design of the screw head.
