VNTYPL8: DC’s Personalized License Plates Run the Gamut From ‘AUTOBOT’ to ‘XXX’

The District of Columbia DMV charges $100 for a vanity cheap car number plate and restricts the length to seven characters. Of the roughly 275,000 plates issued by the D.C. DMV some 4, 382 fall into the vanity category. They don’t call them vanity plates for nothing—most people get a plate that calls attention to them, something important to them such as a sports team, religion, humor, or family.
